Randomization of Questions

You can now randomize the order of questions in Glaut projects. This helps reduce order bias and strengthen data quality, especially in concept testing, ad evaluation, or any study where sequencing might influence responses.

How It Works

You’ll use Question Blocks to manage randomization in your projects.

  • Randomize within a block
Shuffle the order of questions inside a block so each participant sees them in a different sequence, reducing order bias.
  • Randomize between blocks
Shuffle the order of entire blocks, so different participants start with different themes, balancing perspectives across interviews.
  • Branching support
Randomization works seamlessly with branching. Use randomization to minimize bias, and branching to skip irrelevant sections and create tailored flows.
  • Consistent analysis
No matter the order, every response is rolled up correctly. Even if a question shows up as Q4 for one participant and Q7 for another, answers are aggregated together for clean, reliable analysis.

Randomization works in all supported languages and across both text and voice interviews.

Why It Matters for Researchers

In qualitative and quantitative research, question order can shape the answers you receive. With randomization, you ensure each participant sees a unique flow, which strengthens the validity of your findings and mirrors industry best practices for survey and interview design.
